No, a comprehensive digital ID law has not yet passed, but the UK government announced plans in September 2025 for a mandatory digital ID to prove the right to work, to be rolled out by the end of the current parliament. This scheme will be voluntary for other uses and will be stored on users' phones via a GOV.UK Wallet, with the goal of simplifying access to services and reducing illegal working.
