Subject: Objection to NIAC’s Participation in the Iran Panel – January 30
Dear Committee/Organiser,
I am writing to formally express my serious concern regarding the planned panel discussion on Iran scheduled for Friday, January 30, which includes the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) as a participant.
NIAC does not represent the Iranian people. It does not represent Iranian civil society, the Iranian opposition, or the victims of the Islamic Republic.
Instead, NIAC is widely perceived within the Iranian diaspora as an organization that whitewashes, normalizes, and politically launders the Islamic Republic of Iran and its crimes.
Millions of Iranians have suffered under this regime through:
• executions
• imprisonment
• torture
• repression of women
• suppression of free speech
• state violence
• corruption and economic destruction
Any organization that promotes engagement with, legitimization of, or soft narratives about this regime cannot credibly claim to represent the Iranian people.
Including NIAC in a panel about Iran misrepresents Iranian voices and legitimizes a narrative that is deeply offensive to victims, dissidents, and the global Iranian community.
I respectfully urge you to reconsider NIAC’s participation and to ensure that voices representing the Iranian people, not the Islamic Republic, are included instead.
Sincerely,
(Please add your name to male it look official)
Iranian diaspora / concerned community member
